Description: The historic Dreamland Ballroom once filled North Omaha’s nights with swing and soul. From the 1930s through the 1960s, it stood on the second floor of the Jewell Building, welcoming legends like Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Fats Domino, and Ray Charles. A vital stop on the “Chitlin’ Circuit,” Dreamland was both a refuge and a celebration of Black artistry during segregation. Though the ballroom is no longer open, the Jewell Building now houses the Great Plains Black History Museum—featured on MusicRoadtrip.com as a landmark of American musical heritage.
