Description: Musicians from Sweden, the Czech Republic, Argentina and all over the United States will be visiting Grand Forks this season to perform in the galleries of the North Dakota Museum of Art. The Myra Foundation Presents: Concerts in the Galleries will open its 34th season on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with the Camerata Nordica Octet, comprised of principal players from Camerata Nordica Orchestra, Sweden’s foremost orchestra. Their dynamic energy and shared musical purpose form the core of the ensemble's identity. Three of their recordings have been nominated for Grammy Awards. The ensemble has gained a reputation for its distinctive performance style, captivating audiences by performing standing up and occasionally by heart—as in the Mendelssohn Octet, which will be the featured work on the Camerata Nordica Octet’s appearance at the North Dakota Museum of Art on their debut tour across North America. “The Camerata was absolutely phenomenal – what a pleasure to hear them. They are intense, extraordinary musicians..." —WGBH RADIO, Boston “The Camerata Nordica are Swedish. They are also outstandingly good, practised and magnetic in performance. Why magnetic? Because the empathy between the players is unique. They have no conductor and rely entirely upon mutual sensitivity, deeply felt mutual intentions and good old fashioned eye contact and body language.” —MUSICAL OPINION, United Kingdom Camerata Nordica has enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with the esteemed record label BIS, resulting in numerous acclaimed recordings that have been nominated for three Grammy Awards. As Camerata Nordica continues its artistic journey, it remains committed to pushing boundaries, inspiring audiences, and shaping the international cultural landscape through music-making and an unwavering dedication to the highest artistic standards. The season of chamber music by nationally and internally known musicians is the only series of its kind in the Grand Forks area. Chamber music can include both vocal and instrumental music played by a small ensemble with only one player to a part. Although it is often associated with string quartets, nearly any instrument and music from any musical period including modern and contemporary, can be found on a chamber music concert program. The Museum has excellent acoustics for this kind of intimate performance, and concerts are always followed by a free wine and cheese reception where audience members have a chance to meet the visiting musicians. All concerts are held on Sunday afternoons at 2 pm in the Museum galleries. They are open to everyone in the community and throughout the region. Tickets range from $10 to $35. Discounted season tickets are also available. Museum members receive discounted tickets and children 12 and under are free, as are students from 12-18 who play in their school orchestra or band. Seating is limited and guests are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance and come early for the best seats. Reservations may be made through the museum’s website at ndmoa.com or by calling 701-777-4195. Season tickets are also available.
