Description: Join Music City Baroque and guest artists Reza Filsoofi, Joe Zeytoonian, and Myriam Eli for an afternoon of evocative musical highlights from Venice and the Ottoman empire. This special concert accompanies the current exhibition and explores the rich cultural and commercial exchanges between Venice and the Ottoman Empire from a musical perspective. As goods flowed across the Mediterranean, so too did ideas, sounds, and styles. Discover how this interaction shaped the musical landscapes of both worlds. On the program will include pieces by Cantemir, Ali Ufki, Vivaldi, Monteverdi, and others. About Music City Baroque Music City Baroque, led by artistic director Dr. Maria Romero, is Nashville’s professional early music ensemble and just celebrated its twentieth anniversary. The group performs repertoire of the Baroque era on period instruments using historical pitch and playing techniques. Free for members; $5 for not-yet-members; registration required
