Description: Fortress Radio formerly “Metal Fortress Radio” celebrates 20 years February 1, created in 2004 by founder Christina “Lady Rose” Blardo and her oldest Christopher (Corpse Grinder JR) Ameden airing the show at WHUS 91.7 FM, later adding Thomas “The Beast” Blardo musician of 30 years, making the passionate duo both business and marital partners taking the show to a new level as entrepreneur marketing team. In 2014, as Rose’s son Chris left for Afghanistan in the army, and as Connecticut’s known Rock station changed format, Fortress Radio was once again revived to answer the call to promote Rock & metal music no one was airing. In 2016 the station embarked on a tour with Vans Warped tour touring the States marketing itself for the New England territory. By 2018 the station changed its name to WMFR Fortress Radio to work partnerships like Vets Rock in Mohegan Sun, Home and Bridal Shows with producer Jenks Productions creating lasting relationships with many more corporate businesses wishing to utilize Fortress’s reputation in both entertainment & business world prior to Covid which hit in 2020 devastating the world’s economy. The station would move three times during its existence since 2014 finding bigger space each time it grew as the exposure enhanced during the years. Articles would start being written making the station more popular in its category and out lasting many major internet stations. Financially the station gained as it grew, now in its next chapter the owners now create a “Fortress: to walk into and experience in person with its new addition of a Rock apparel Boutique in central Connecticut. They recently included a Digital broadcast to now include its own TV station on Roku.
